Candidates for FCSD#1 School Board

Parental trust is a foundational pillar of public education. When parents trust their child’s school they will be more engaged, which will increase student achievement. Parental trust will lead to stronger ties between our schools and our community which will lead to stronger support for our teachers. Trust is best built through transparency and accountability.

Transparency refers to the openness and accessibility of information, processes, and decisions in our schools. It ensures information is readily available to parents, allowing for scrutiny and evaluation. This openness fosters trust by making sure actions and decisions are visible to all stakeholders.

Accountability is the obligation of teachers and staff to take responsibility for their actions, decisions, and their impact on students and families. It involves being answerable for one’s conduct and being able to justify and explain the reasons behind it. Accountability ensures schools are held responsible for their performance and behavior.

How do we ensure Transparency & Accountability in our schools

Parents, the community, and other stakeholders have easy access to content, objectives, and assessment methods

Staff respect the role of parents by consistently communicating anything affecting the child’s education, health, or welfare

The values of our community are reflected in our schools. No single parent can veto standards, curriculum, or materials.

Parents know and trust the curriculum and materials in our schools will not violate their family’s values

Disagreements on material or curriculum are adjudicated fairly and openly

Encourage and welcome parental involvement

Ensure equal opportunity for all students

If we are elected to serve on the FCSD#1 school board we will work to ensure that all policies in are district are crafted in a manner that ensures our schools are Transparent and Accountable.
